Natural Progesterone Supplementation Progesterone is an important hormone manufactured by the adrenal glands in men and women and in the ovaries in women. Progesterone is responsible for numerous functions taking place that are necessary for optimum health. There is much evidence that men and women, especially women, suffer from reduced levels of progesterone. Due to faulty diets, decreased nutrients in our foods and the stress that we experience, most women have reduced levels of all hormones, but especially progesterone. Also, we are exposed to numerous xeno-estrogens (certain chemicals in the environment that have effects on the body similar to estrogen). The resulting “estrogen dominance” is the major cause of PMS and many other problems. Menopause and hysterectomy also result in progesterone deficiency. Keeping
progesterone levels optimum can help: ·
Normalize blood sugar
levels ·
Increase libido ·
Natural antidepressant and
improved memory ·
Increase energy, stamina,
endurance and well being · P.M.S. - common symptoms may include headaches, migraine, depression, mood swings, breast tenderness or engorgement, edema and craving for sweets. · Menopause - Natural progesterone is a precursor to estrogens. It can help restore a balance of hormones in the body eliminating hot flashes, night sweats, and emotional upsets. It can also be used in surgical hysterectomy and oophorectomy (ovary removal). · Menstrual cramps - apply ¼ tsp. cream 2-3 times a day on abdomen. · Osteoporosis - Estrogen only slows down bone loss, natural progesterone actually increases bone mass. · Infertility - Progesterone is essential to implantation and development. · Menarche (onset of menstrual cycle in adolescence) - This may be accompanied by mood swings, cravings for sweets and erratic behavior. · Amenorrhea or irregular cycle - Apply cream twice daily. · Facial hair - Often will diminish within a few months. · Helps prevent endometriosis, uterine fibroid tumors, and fibrocystic breast disease · Skin becomes softer, moister and more elastic. It can alleviate aches and pains from cuts, bruises, lacerations and skin irritations. · Restore other steroid hormone levels such as DHEA, estrogen and testosterone. Natural progesterone cream is the easiest and most effective way to supplement low progesterone levels. Synthetic (prescription) “progestins” such as found in birth control pills and in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) do not have all of the benefits of natural progesterone and may have side effects. Natural progesterone is made from plants such as wild yam and is identical to the progesterone made by the body. When taken orally progesterone is processed by the liver, which causes much of it to be excreted or converted into unwanted chemicals. Natural progesterone is absorbed well through the skin, and therefore does not get altered by the liver. ApplicationWomen: Use ¼ to ½ tsp. once or twice daily from ovulation to menstruation. Apply to back of hands, inner thighs, neck, face, or chest. Breasts may increase in size if applied to them. Vary the area of application daily. Detailed Instructions available. Men and postmenopausal women: Use 2-3 weeks of each month on a monthly cycle.
